THe industry`s latest movers and shakers
Performance development specialist for the recruitment industry Lander has two new additions.
Helen Harvey and Moya Rylands bring with them a combined 45 years of recruitment experience and a wealth of knowledge to the senior Lander Associates team. Moya specialises in sales and account management training and has worked across a broad spectrum of sectors including banking, IT and telecoms. She previously led a team of 25 as a national account director and oversaw re-tenders for multi-million pound accounts. As an REC fellow Helen brings a vast knowledge and experience in her new role as management consultant. She was given a lifetime award by the REC in 2007 for services to recruitment. Managing director Fiona Lander said: “We are delighted to have such experienced and talented recruitment professionals joining our team. Both of their experience is going to prove invaluable in our partnership with our clients.”
It has been a brilliant rise through recruitment for Brightwork`s latest promotion Kim Hill. Kim was in admin just two years ago before she took the plunge into recruitment where she is now one of the company`s biggest fee earners and the company believes a rising star within the Scottish staffing scene having recently been made senior consultant in the company`s public sector arm. Kim (24) said: “I felt that the only way of progressing on a personal level was to get out and find a company which encouraged people to thrive and prosper regardless of their qualifications and background. I knew that by joining Brightwork there was a good chance of things getting better for me – and they did!”
Specialist recruiter Maximus IT has strengthened its team with three new ERP recruits. Peter Barrett brings with him more than three years of IT and Oracle recruitment experience to his role of developing new business in the Oracle arena for Maximus. Oliver Doyle also joins as CRM team leader and will be specialising in growing the company`s presence in the European market. Lloyd Gordon with seven years in technical recruitment, joins the company as the Oracle and Hyperion lead and said: “Maximus is a well known name in the industry and there`s no better respected company in ERP recruitment and I`m looking forward to becoming part of one of the big players in this sector.”
North-west based financial recruitment consultancy AFR has promoted Tammy Smith to director following a reshuffle of the board. Tammy who joined the company in April 2008 to launch its clerical finance division will join Simon Speak and Phil Scott on the board. Tammy replaces former director Adam Lunney, who helped establish the company with Simon and Phil, has left to pursue other career interests. Simon added: “Tammy has displayed director potential since day one and we welcome her to the board. She will build on the excellent work we have done over the last four years in growing our qualified and part-qualified markets as well as continuing to grow our clerical finance division.

The recruitment and Employment Confederation has appointed a new director for the West Midlands region. Susie Ankrett will be joining Philip Delaloye and Richard Toy in serving the region where the REC currently has a membership of 643 corporate and 575 individual recruitment consultants. Susie, director of Plum Personnel in Solihull, will be active in promoting the REC in the region and helping raise awareness of professional standards throughout the industry. She will also act as ambassador for the region with employers, MEPs and MPs. Before entering the industry in 2001 Susie was a further education lecturer at Solihull College before setting up Plum with her friend Julie Whitehouse. She says one of her greatest achievements to date was appearing in Hansard after suggesting to her local MP about extending the rights of parents for flexible working in 2007. She said: “I feel privileged, excited and enthusiastic at having the opportunity to contribute to the work of the REC on a local basis. Currently I see the short to mid-term future as being a real challenge for the industry. But as with many challenges there always come opportunities.”
Media recruitment company Mediamatch has taken on two new additions to strengthen its team. Kate Lamberth and Edward Rendle, both experienced within recruitment have been brought in to expand the client base. Kate has been working in the Bath area, where Mediamatch has an office and the company believes she has a real and natural talent for the creative sector. Bristol resident Edward is a former Clifton College student and the company states he has joined in order to “continue the company`s high level of service.”
While celebrating its 30th anniversary Central Employment Agency has taken on a new face. Michael Hall has joined CEA as a consultant and will be responsible for all sales, service and contact centre vacancies. Michael has several years experience in the commercial sector, and prior to the recruitment industry he worked within the travel sector.
Rec2rec firm Aston Taylor has appointed two new consultants to their Hertfordshire-based team. Adam Henwood, who joins from a retail sales background and Kimberley Hewitt from a financial services past have both joined as trainee consultants. The company supplies all sectors and levels of recruitment staffing and the two new additions have boosted the new staff intake to 11 in the last 12 months with a 100 per cent success rate for trainees graduating from the in-house training scheme.
Independent recruitment system specialists Culuru has appointed a new business development officer. Damian Newland has more than 10 years experience helping business owners increase capacity and profitability through technological solutions. Damian has joined from Daxtra Technologies and previously worked as information systems manager at Robert Walters and the company believes he has a deep understanding of how to address many of the challenges that recruiters face with technology. He will be based in Edinburgh and deal with the company`s northern clients.
A triumvirate of consultants has joined recruitment firm Blue Pelican Group. Myles Evan-Cook has joined Blue Pelican Consultancy in their application development team with a focus on .Net and Java. Catherine Wallington has been taken on by Blue Pelican Pharma specialising in pharmacovigilance and Colin Doree joins the group as senior consultant within the specialist marketing division.
S1 Jobs has appointed Weeworld founder Mike Kinsella as web producer. S1 managing director Mark Smith said: “We`re delighted to have secured someone with a world-class track record in online innovation. Mike made Weeworld one of Scotland`s most successful online exports – one that now attracts some 25m users. I`m sure that his entrepreneurial flair will mean he feels very at home at S1 as we look to add even more value for our users and advertisers.”

Steven Shaw has joined Ochre House as client service manager for recruitment outsourcing and Joy Bolton has taken on the role of reference co-ordinator. The executive outsourcing team has welcomed Jane Collins as talent management while Wade Edgar joins head office as interim marketing manager.

Based in London she will be responsible for the sales targets of three teams and strengthening current client relationships. Sarah has worked at Pareto since trainee level which she started in 1999. She said: “This promotion is a major achievement in my career and reflects the continued growth of the business. I look forward to taking on the responsibilities and challenges my new role will bring.”
